Omaha calls up Carlos Silva, shift rotation after trade.(43.27)

Post by niles08 » Tue Jun 30, 2020 1:43 pm

The Cyclones have announced their intention to call up starting pitcher Carlos Silva from AAA Lincoln effective immediately. Silva was acquired in the Jose Arrelano deal with Calgary over the off-season, along with Pedro Mendoza.

Silva has a 3.65 ERA over 56 innings in AAA, where he has struck out 37 and walked 14. His 3.31 FIP backs up his current ERA and signs point to Silva being potentially ready to show what he has at the big league level.

Also moving into the rotation to take over the vacancies left from the Louisville trade is Thomas Rodriguez. Rodriguez has gotten starts in the past, having started 30 games in 2040 and 2041 combined, but his production dropped at the same time. Since moving to the pen, Rodriguez has done better the past two seasons throwing 100 innings with an ERA hovering around 4.

Rodriguez and Silva join rotation leftovers Timo Dooley, Juan Garcia, and Jose Lima. Dooley missed the first past of the season, while Lima has struggled after his masterful 2042 season. Garcia is still going through the motions in his first season in the rotation, having an ERA of 4.97 currently.
