Orlando Ordonez out up to a month as Omaha’s bad luck continues.(43.21)

What could help a team that is 0-12? How about losing one of the better players on the team and one of the better defensive players in any outfield? That’s just what happened when Orlando Ordonez was placed on the injured list this morning due to recurring back spasms.

Ordonez, mentioned as maybe the most underachieving player in the BBA in the media guide, was struggling again early this season with a .222/.243/.417 batting line, however, his glove will surely be missed as it didn’t take days off or go through slumps.

Ordonez, still just 23 years old, looked to have a broken out with a 47 home run 2040 season before slipping back down to just 34 the past 2 seasons, where his OPS+ has been below the league average hitter. Back in 2038, Ordonez was ranked as high as the #2 overall prospect in the entire BBA. Many in Omaha believed that this season was going to be the one where Ordonez reaffirmed his ability, however we will now have to wait at least a month to get another look at that.

Ordonez has 2 seasons of arbitration remaining with the club before he would be set to become a free agent after the 2045 season.
