Omaha quietly avoids arbitration early for 2044 with 2 members of it’s team.(43.12)

As mentioned Omaha has routinely tried to avoid arbitration with its players every off-season whether that be for goodwill or strategy, it’s just been out of the norm for Omaha to face a player on its team in arbitration.

You can cross a few candidates for next season off your list before this season even kicks off.

Right fielder Andre Ly, who arguably may be the best position player on the Hawks this season, agreed to a 1 year extension for the 2044 season, which will pay him $4,820,000, a raise from the $3,120,000 Ly is being paid this year as a Super-2 Player.

Ly broke out this season with a 4.5 WAR and 133 OPS+ after batting .297/.406/.529 while knocking 26 balls out of the park and stealing 38 bases. He isn’t all offense, though as he took home the 2042 Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award for right fielders last season as well.

Also signing on the dotted line was starting pitcher In-Sung Yi who will make $910,000 next season, nearly a 100% raise based on his league minimum $500,000 salary for 2043. Next season would have been Yi’s first time through arbitration despite being 27 years old.

Yi had his debut last season after being traded from Yellow Springs, putting together a 9 win season to go along with a 4.19 ERA over 163 innings pitched. His 214 strikeouts put him second in the league in K/9 where he finished at 11.79. Despite pitching just 163 innings, he ranked 6th in strikeouts and 3rd in hits allowed per 9 innings pitched at 7.49.
