Hawks/Morales close on new deal? Or close to being traded?(42.21)

Post by niles08 » Tue May 05, 2020 11:19 am

Just when it looked like the city of Omaha and Emilio Morales would be going their separate ways, there was an interesting sighting on Dodge Street in downtown Omaha. That sighting was Morales longtime agent walking down the front steps of the Hawks headquarters and getting into an Uber assumedly to take him to the airport. It goes without mention that he was also on a cell phone while walking down the stairs and passerby traffic and gossip heard something along the lines of “I am so glad for you we got this done”.

Further gossip had Morales not actually signing an agreement with Omaha but instead the “glad we got this done” was about recent trade rumors that had Morales being shipped out of Omaha with 3 unknown bidders as of last week.

If you believe your heart and the first set of gossip, further rumors are that Morales has signed a 6-year contract that will pay him in the neighborhood of $71 million guaranteed. That is an average salary of only $11,800,000 annually and what appears to be a hometown discount deal for Omaha.

In addition, there have been some rumors attached to this as well of incentives ranging from $1 million to $5 million for a Sawyer Silk award, plate-based appearance incentives that could pay upwards of $20,000,000 over the course of the 6 years if the deal is indeed signed, and even a rumored $2,500,000 incentive for being voted in as an All-Star.

Once again, all rumors. All gossip. Regardless, still interesting developments in Omaha. Also, with the trade deadline less than 4 weeks away, it doesn't appear we are going to have to wait until then to see if Morales is on the move. If he is on the move, it appears the deal is done if you believe the gossip. If he is being resigned, it appears that deal is done as well.

I might as well give him a $10,000,000 reward for Silk since the league hates him and never will give him one lol.
