Mutsuhito Imai’s time in Omaha appears to be coming to an end after he was placed on waivers despite having 2 minor league options left. Imai, who was acquired in 2039 from Las Vegas in the Edris Mtume deal, showed promise in both 2040 and 2041, posting a positive WAR each season so the move comes as to somewhat of a surprise to many.

Well, to those who aren’t in the clubhouse anyway. Baggage followed Imai from Las Vegas to the Omaha clubhouse with many saying his presence was a constant disruption in the clubhouse. A shame as Imai has shown he can pitch out of the pen and could be a spot starter in a pinch.

The 26-year-old, Imai is bringing home a salary of $850,000 this season. He has 4 years of major league service time, which means he likely would have 2-3 seasons of control if a team were to claim him on waivers.
