Speculation has begun in Omaha that the Hawks may look to build a new ballpark and have it open for the opening day of the 2043 season. While nothing is definite, GM Justin Niles didn’t shut down those rumors.
"We’re always looking to provide our fans with the best and most entertaining environment. Part of that comes from the team’s play on the field, but part of that also comes from amenities and the fan experience.” Said Niles.
This speculation is taking place before the Hawks's current ballpark “Hawks Field” even reaches its 9th full birthday. The Hawks moved from Indianapolis in 2032 and although they attempted to use the Omaha Barnstormers old field, after failing to do so, they decided to build a park of their own.
In the 9 years with Omaha, the Hawks have made the playoffs 4 times, winning the Heartland division in 2037. Omaha is looking to rebound from a horrendous 2041 season which had the team finish with a 63-99 record, the worst since 2030.
