Omaha to face Heartland rival in Doubleday Series.

Post by niles08 » Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:56 pm

Omaha is in a place many weren’t sure they would see at the end of the 2040 season, as Omaha began the season slow and as of August 31st were only 6 games over .500 and on the outside looking in for a wildcard spot. Well, September played differently for the Hawks as the cruised to a 20-8 record to push their overall record to a 90-72 finish allowing the team to punch a ticket to the postseason for the first time in 3 seasons.

What clicked for Omaha?

Could it have been the deadline addition of outfielder Justin Jackson or shortstop Tu-Fu Yong from Nashville? Could it have been the change to a 4 man rotation after moving on from Londo Klomp and Elliot Buckland?

Whatever it was, the club needs to find a bit more magic as they fill face their toughest task yet in a Yellow Springs team that was on cruise control for much of the 2040 season after jumping way ahead in the Heartland standings and never looking back.

A Yellow Springs team that won 110 regular-season games.

A Yellow Springs team that has 2 20 game-winners, both with ERA’s under 3.00.

Did we mention a Yellow Springs team ranked first in batting average, on-base percentage. Those first-place rankings have allowed them to score the second-most runs in the league.

What’s worse? Of course, they are ranked second in runs allowed as well.

What’s worse than worse? How did Omaha do in the regular season against Yellow Springs? Well, they went 4-10.

It will truly have to be all hands on deck for this series.

Hawk Nation, get loud.
