This is not a test. Omaha has won 8 games in a row. Even more important, all 8 of those games were road games, where Omaha hasn’t had a rowdy crowd to cheer them on.
During the 8 game winning streak, Omaha has swept Twin Cities, Swept Vancouver, and now has taken the first game in a pivotal playoff series against San Fernando in San Fernando.
Young Phenom Jose Lima has been nearly as hot as they come over his past 3 starts. He has compiled a 1.59 ERA over his past 22.2 innings allowing only 4 earned runs and striking out 13 while allowing 15 total hits and picking up all 3 victories. With those victories, Lima is now 17-4 on the season with a 3.27 ERA and a 3.72 FIP. These numbers are much improved over his 2039 season of a 10-8 record with a 4.93 ERA and 6.15 FIP.
Lima’s 17 wins on the season are tied for 1st place in the BBA with Ernesto Ramos & Carlos Valle, both of Yellow Springs Nine.
With the winning streak, Omaha’s playoff odds have risen from a mere 24.8% before the streak began to a season-high of 48.1% as of this morning.
GM Justin Niles famously spoke before the streak began and said that Omaha was about to begin a 45 game winning streak. Well Niles, your 17% of the way there.
