After trades, Omaha announces drop in rotation. (40.13)

Post by niles08 » Wed Nov 20, 2019 10:59 am

With the recent trades in Omaha, it has caused Omaha to actually drop down to a 4 man rotation for the time being. According to the press release today, there is no timetable for how long this change will be in effect for nor whether or not the team is kicking the tires on free-agent options or looking through its own system.

Despite the drop in number of starters, the Omaha rotation had a pretty decent week as Jose Lima pitched 15.2 innings(1 complete game), allowing only 2 earned runs and striking out 12.

Stephen Clulow also went 15 innings over his 2 starts(1 complete game), allowing 4 earned runs.

Newcomer, Jose Arellano did well allowing 3 earned runs in 15 innings of work.

The only downside truly was Thomas Rodriguez. Rodriguez allowed 8 earned runs in 12 innings this week and sports a current 5.26 ERA and 5.35 FIP. After posting a 3.27 ERA in July over 5 starts, he watched August wind up at 6.21 over 6 starts. A tale of two months.

It’s worth pointing out that Omaha wasn’t playing the Yellow Springs or Edmonton’s of the world this week as they played Twin Cities for 5 games and Madison the rest. Both teams under .500 and likely packing it in for 2040.

The big test will likely come next weekend when Omaha begins a stretch of San Fernando, Long Beach, Chicago, and Yellow Springs.
