Omaha starters have an era of 6.12. Unsurprisingly that is dead last in the frick league and likely dead last in the entire BBA. Long story short, something has got to give.
It’s worth noting that Omaha has the 6.12 starter ERA despite Jose Lima having an ERA of 2.49 through 5 games. That means that yes, everyone else is awful. Awful is being nice. 3 of the 5 Omaha starters carry ERA’s that are over 7 including Stephen Clulow who had an ERA in the Mid 4’s last season, and was supposed to be the “ace” of this club that had no ace.
Now many, are asking for ”Dooley Time”. Timo Dooley time that is.
The noise has only grown as the clubs #1 prospect has pitched very well 45 minutes down the road in AAA Lincoln. This season he has a 3.04 ERA over 50 innings, with a 4.10 FIP and 1.0 WAR through 8 games.
Dooley is only 20 years old however and despite being named the #35 prospect in all of the BBA, he is likely not ready for the bright lights as his curveball remains underdeveloped.
It’s anybody’s guess whether or not he will get a shot however as with every run Omaha gives up and every strikeout Dooley attains, the noise will only grow.
With Omaha rotation in turmoil is Dooley an option?(40.5)
