Rafael Gutierrez has had an interesting beginning to his big league career. He started the 2039 season, his first in the BBA, with Madison where over 31 games he accumulated a .315/.356/.417 batting line before abruptly being traded to Omaha in exchange for John Hale & Roberto Puente.

Two weeks later, on June 14th, he hurt his knee and was considered day to day over the next week. He healed up only to re-sprain the same knee on 6/28/19 which has caused him to watch from the dugout since.

Now, with 20 games remaining in the season and Omaha a mere 2.5 games out of the wildcard, Gutierrez will return and play third base and hope to help keep the spark alive in Nebraska. Gutierrez did struggle during his 115 at bats in Omaha with a batting line of .243/.298/.348 but the club has to be hoping the 20 year old will come back as a spark plug.

with the return, Emilio Morales will shift from third base to 2nd base, and James Monger will take over shortstop duties again while Gutierrez will cover the hot corner.

Looks like he never did get it going this season.

Hale started off outstanding in Madison but he too fizzled out late in the season.

Considering Ross Quicker led our team with a 5.1 WAR at 3B, I'm hoping it works out well in the end for both teams. Will should have a long term catcher in Hale while still using Quicker at 3B while Gutierrez turns out to be solid in the end in Omaha.
