Emilio Morales back atop the HR Leader board as he continues to make BBA history (39.28)

Post by niles08 » Fri Aug 16, 2019 10:50 am

Emilio Morales had a sluggish start to the season only batting .234 with 21 home runs through April, May & June of the season. However as the temperature rose in Omaha, so did Morales and his production.

Since July 1st, Morales has hit 25 home runs and batted .318 while driving in 45 runs and scoring 46 runs of his own. He even stole a base to bring his total career stolen bases to 2.

After the slug fest in July & August, Morales now finds himself back atop the leader board for BBA Home Runs this season with 47 home runs and is on pace to match his last season total of 56. However, he will not come close to his batting average from last season of .313 as his season batting average for 2039 is only .267.

He also will not be adding to his diamond glove from last season as he has been average at best at the hot corner this year.

Something he could do? He could reach 400 career home runs by seasons end if things continue for him. He currently is sitting at 388, so would need to finish with 59 home runs this season, or slug 12 out of the park during the month of September.

Omaha does have 16 of their 26 remaining games at home, which is where Morales has hit 28 of his home runs this season, a difference of 9 when comparing his 19 on the road. This difference comes despite taking 33 less at bats at home this season compared to his road games.

At home Morales has averaged a home run every 8 at bats, while on the road, he averages a home run every 14 at bats. He has averaged 3.7 at bats per game this year, which would give him a remaining 59 remaining at bats at home and 37 at bats while on the road.

37/14= 2.6 Home runs on the road
59/8=7.3 Home runs at home.

That gives him approximately 10 home runs remaining this season. However, let’s not forget how hot he has been the past 2 months compared to the first 3. He has hit a home run every 8 at bats in his past 2 months regardless of being on the road or at home. If he had that pace, he would hit 12 this month and finish the season with an even 400 home runs in his career at the age of 29.

If his pace continues and he finishes at the top, this would also be the fifth consecutive season that Morales will lead the entire BBA in home runs which I believe he already holds the longest streak of 4 seasons regardless of consecutive or not From a quick glance at the history books, nobody will have led the league 5 different seasons in HR, and nobody can sniff 4 seasons in a row

He could accomplish these feats, but there is one more thing he could do.....

He could help Omaha reach the postseason.

 you have to make contact to hit it out of the park so either way. I am sure this isn't the first guy to ever play in a park with 1.2 HR factors.

I'll take the guy that hits home runs...a guy who hit's .400 has to rely on the others to bring him around to score a run. A guy who hits a home run scores all by himself.
