Omaha loses recently acquired Gutierrez for remainder of season (39.22)

Omaha can't seem to catch a break, unless it's a break of one of the member of the roster's bones.

Rafael Gutierrez will miss 8-9 weeks of action after spraining his knee in last night’s game. The 20 year old who was acquired at the end of May from Madison in the trade that sent John Hale to Madison has not produced at the plate as Omaha had hoped.

His .243/.298/.348 triple slash line is much lower than he had in Madison where he had a .315/.356/.417 over nearly the same amount of at bats. With that drop in production at the plate he has also drove in 15 less runs over the same amount of plate appearances. His paltry 25 RBI on the season in over 250 at bats is disappointing. That 25 RBI is likely where he finishes as the 20 year old now will essentially miss the remainder of the season as this likely puts him out through mid-late September.

Slugging Emilio Morales who has been playing second base is expected to move back to 3B in the absence of Gutierrez while Monger will shift to his natural second base and Jake Williams will take over at shortstop for the remainder of the season.
