Adam Barnard, who has been a staple of the Omaha rotation since the 2033 season has been officially placed on waivers by the team today. The 27 year old is in the midst of a second straight dismal year and currently sports a 6.22 FIP.
Barnard has started at least 32 games every season since the 2034 year and as you can imagine pitched nearly 200 innings each of those seasons. His career 4.23 ERA over those 1,282 career innings showcases the top of the rotation stuff he had early on in his career.
However, the past 2 seasons he has fallen and taken a step back with an ERA in the mid 5’s last season and the mid 6’s this season. Scouts still feel strongly that his stuff, control, and movement are all above average however his stats indicate otherwise over the past 47 starts.
Barnard is owed $10,300,000 next season along with the remaining of the $10,300,000 this season. It is unknown if he is unclaimed, if the club will hang onto him and attempt to straighten him back out however he very well may be claimed by a club looking to take a risk on a starting pitcher.
