Morales/Canales quietly top Omaha all-time leader board.(39.6)

While the Hawks had a poor season last year, Emilio Morales & Jose Canales both had productive years. Morales, more so than Canales, but both had formidable seasons and statistics that moved them into the top spot in the Hawks all-time leaderboard in several categories.

Canales, who had an overall frustrating year with his ERA ballooning over a full run compared to his career average, finished the season with 33 saves giving him 248 all time and an average of 41 saves over his 6 seasons with the club. His 248 saves place him on top of the leaderboard in saves for a career topping George Thrilkil’s 240. Canales currently holds the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th spots in the single season saves category with 48,46,45, and 42 saves.

Canales is signed through the 2042 season so assuming he averages 40 saves a season as he has done, he would eclipse 400 career saves by the age of 31 placing him in the top 20 all time in saves. It’s a big longshot but If he cold eclipse 500, he would find himself in the top 5.

As for Morales, his 56 home runs last season gives him 341 career home runs which places him #1 for the club ahead of Sergio Ramos who had 329 home runs in 5607 at bats. Morales accomplished his feat in only 4,762 at bats so nearly 1,000 less at bats.

Morales also only needs 5 RBI to tie Ramos for the team RBI All-time record of 909 and is 5th on the team’s all-time hits leaderboard with 2,531. Ryoko Masaki is the only player with 3,000 hits in franchise history.

Morales finds his name in the number 1 ranking for the clubs records for total bases (owns 5 of the top 10), Home Runs(owns all 5 of the top 5), and RBI(owns all 4 of the top 4, & #9).

Morales is also signed through 2042 and the last 4 seasons has hit 64, 59, 64, & 56 home runs along with RBI totals of 147,164,151, & 151. Those are averages of 60 home runs and 153 RBI. At that pace he would only need 3 seasons to reach 520 career home runs and 1,363 career RBI. He would be in the top 17 all time for home runs and near the top 50 in RBI totals at the age of 33.

The top 5 for RBI at 1911 is probably a bit off as he would need another 548 RBI to get there and 700 home runs is simply a dream more than a reality. In order to get t0 each from his 6 seasons at age 33-38 he would need to average 30 home runs a season and 91 RBI. Something that is probably out of the question. Injuries shouldn’t be an issue for the slugger however as he has had at least 629 at bats in each of the 6 full seasons with the club.

Whether he hangs it up with 700 home runs or 500 home runs or hell even 400 Home Runs….something that is probably inevitable is that in the years to come Hawks field will be renamed in his honor.
