Omaha Off-Season Outlook (2039.2). The Outfield

Post by niles08 » Mon Jun 10, 2019 2:07 pm

In this 4 part series, we will take an in depth look covering the infield, outfield, starting pitching, along with the bullpen. We will look at what last season held for each of these areas, along with what that means for the off-season and the future of the club.
For this part, we look at the outfield.

The outfield in 2038 was arguably the most consistent outfield that Omaha has had in years. Martin Marin played 152 in left field, and Jimmy Starks started 114 games in center field before moving to 2nd base, and right field was split among Gustavo Herrera & Alonso Olvere.

The outfield has a chance to remain the same assuming Olvere is called back up from AAA & Starks does not start at 2nd base instead. Herrera appears ready to be the 4th outfielder for the club, but Bernardo Boullosa and top prospect Orlando Ordonez are knocking on the door and are both outfielders.

Ordonez is still a season away in most scouts minds however Boullosa was ready last year and it would be surprising if the club did not call on him at some point this season because of injury or if Starks Jr. does move to the infield.

So what does the off-season look like?

I would be completely shocked and confused if Omaha added any outfielders to its roster based on the current log jam it is about to find itself in. Never say never, but this one would be on the totally surprised end of the scale.
