Omaha promotes top prospect Orlando Ordonez..to AAA(38.61)

Orlando Ordonez has been promoted to the Lincoln Loggers.

The 18 year old Ordonez went straight from the international complex this off-season to AA where he has done very well batting .284/.327/.537 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI in 387 at bats.

The #2 overall BBA prospect has also performed very well with his glove and if there was any doubt before, has proved those doubters wrong that he will play center field in the BBA.

He now shifts to AAA where he will likely remain through at least the end of the season, and potentially throughout next season. Most experts had his ETA at 2041 so he is a bit ahead of schedule.

When Ordonez is inevitably called upon to put on a Hawks jersey, he will join a crowded outfield currently consisting of Martin Marin, Jimmy Starks Jr., Gustavo Herrera, and Alonso Olvere.

The best guess is that Starks will shift over to left or right field, and Ordonez will take over the reins in center. The club also has several centerfield prospects that could find their way to the majors including last year’s #1 pick Lorenzo Bueno who was recently called up to AAA.

Much can happen between now and whenever Ordonez is called up so it’s all chicken scratch for the time being, however it seems that Ordonez may be on a faster track that some figured and he could very well debut at the age of 19.

Hes rough around the edges for sure. That greed will have to come down before he signs his extension. He wi have to smarten up and become a loyal leader as well.
