Projected Starter: Aubrey AndersonThis is a series that I have stolen from the Jackrabbits, where we will evaluate each position leading into and during the early stages of Spring Training. Only players currently on the 40 man roster will be included in this series as prospects will be looked at in upcoming weeks. This is the eighth of eleven positions that will be posted. In this part, we will take a look at the right field position.
Backup: Jesus Rojas
Trying to find a spot: Terrence Mack
You’ll find most of these have been easy answers for the club as sometimes money rules everything. This position was somewhat of a question mark heading into the off-season as nobody knew what Aubrey Anderson would be doing with his player option. Would he opt out and forgo the final 2 seasons of his deal, or would he remain in Omaha and earn nearly $20,000,000 over the next 2 seasons. Well, Anderson opted in to the remaining two seasons of his contract over the off-season and what this means is that he will surely start opening day in right field. Anderson has a good glove and his bat heated up towards the end of the summer last month. If he can piece it all together, he may end up being a bargain for the club.
Healthy will also be of concern for Anderson as he has not played a full season since arriving in Omaha.
Rojas once again should cover this position in the event of a needed break for Anderson.
