Omaha locks up Monger(38.14)

Omaha locks up Monger through 2041.

Omaha has agreed to a contract extension with star second baseman James Monger (8/7/7/5/8 Ratings, .299/.354/.524, 111 HR, 357 RBI). The contract is a 3 year deal that will pay Monger $28,550,000 over the span of the 3 years. This buys out Monger’s 2 seasons of arbitration hearings along with his first season of free agency that was set to occur after the 2040 season.

Monger has quietly put together a total WAR of 16.8 over the past 3 seasons, which reflect his first 3 full seasons in the BBA. That 16.8 averages out to 5.6 per season. His 7.0 season in 3036 actually took votes away from teammate Emilio Morales in the MVP voting.

Monger’s contract breaks down as

$6,850,000 in 2039
$8,850,000 in 2040
Followed by $12,850,000 in 2041.

There is also a $200,000 bonus for making the all-star team, something Monger has done the past 2 seasons.

Monger is an extremely popular player not only in the state of Nebraska, but across the BBA so news broke quickly with many local fans applauding Omaha for the contract extension.
