A slew of more announcements from the Omaha front office were just sent out to the media. This time regarding players currently in the international complex for the club.
Let’s begin with potentially the biggest fallout from this. Center fielder Orlando Ordonez, who was just ranked the 4th top prospect in the entire BBA, will begin the season at Single-A Mankato. Ordonez has spent the past 2 seasons in the international complex after signing a $7,400,000 minor league contract with the club in January 2036.
It doesn’t’ sound as if the club has plans for Ordonez to be their long however as the rumor is that he is expected to be in AAA by the end of the season.
Of the crew recently signed days ago, Soichiro Abe is reporting to rookie ball when he arrives. The rest will be held in the international complex as they mature.
That wasn’t the case for many of the remaining international complex players however as the club promoted 16 players from the international complex to rookie league Denison.
The big story here however, appears to be Orlando Ordonez and the rumors swirling about his hurried timeline to the BBA all of a sudden. These rumors spark even more rumors concerning the contract status of Jimmy Starks Jr. who is only under contract through the 2038 season.
