Emilio Morales--The Man, The Myth, The Legend(37.12)

Post by niles08 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:43 am

Just to give the Omaha fan base a bit more information to show how much they should truly cherish Emilio Morales, let’s take a look at Morales’s career numbers. Let us not forget he is only 27 years old and recently signed with the club through the 2042 season.

To begin, we might as well re name the batting records and batting leaderboards for Omaha the “Emilio Morales records” because when it is all said and done he will be atop most of them.

First, let’s admire the current season he is having and what records he will break this season alone or at least find himself in the top 4.

Slugging Pct---Emilio Morales current slugging percentage of .694 would put him in first place breaking the previous record of .652, also held by Emilio Morales in 2035.

OPS—Emilio Morales currently has an OPS of 1.041 which would put him 2nd on the leaderboard in Hawks history behind Paul Barfoot in 2001 with an OPS of 1.058

WAR—Emilio Morales currently has a WAR of 7.4 placing him 4th on the all-time leaderboard for Omaha. A 0.1 bump over the final 12 games to 7.5 would bump him to 2nd, but he is out of reach of the 9.1 set by Barfoot in 2001.

Total Bases- Emilio Morales already sits at #1 for 2037 with 418 bases and has a chance to widen the gap even more from #2, also held by Morales with 411 in 2035.

Home runs—Morales would beat his own record of 64 in 2035 by hitting 3 more home runs this season. He now holds spots 1-4 on the teams single season leaderboard with 64,62,59,45.

RBI—Morales has 146 RBI this season putting him 3rd, 1 spot behind his #2 spot on the list in 2035 and 18 behind his #1 ranking in 2036.

Now, it’s not too often you see a 27 year old breaking career team records, but that is what you have with Morales.

Career Batting Records broken this year or soon after.

Slugging Pct—Morales sits currently 2nd in the team’s Slugging % with a .565 slugging % over 4,039 at bats. This .003 points behind Morris Pennebaker over his 2,369 at bats with the club.

WAR-Morales now finds himself on the clubs top 10 for WAR for a career. He has 29.7 WAR and has a great chance to finish near the top.

Total Bases--Morales needs under 900 total bases to be at the top of Omaha’s career leaderboard for total bases. Ryoko Masaki had 3031 bases in 7,837 at bats.

Home Runs:Morales is only behind Sergio Ramos in career home runs who had 329 over 5,607 plate appearances. Morales could find himself at the top as soon as next season and in over 1,000 less plate appearances.

RBI: Morales also is within striking distance on RBI’s. He needs only 161 to be the clubs all-time leader.

Wow. What a tremendous player Morales has been for the city of Omaha and with at least 5 season’s left with the club after his extension was signed the sky seems to be the possibility.

Well, the sky, and a statue out front of Hawks field of course. That is, if it isn’t Morales field by then.

You're rooting a guy who can't even make the all-star team?
