Omaha makes 2 last minute deals at the deadline.(37.9)

Omaha was in a place where it probably could have sat around and made the playoffs and it’s as good as a random draw from there, however they decided to not just sit tight and use some of the remaining payroll they had available this year to bring in a few rentals.

First they traded for starting pitcher Andres Georges from New Orleans. Georges had struggled this season with a 5.55 ERA and 5.19 FIP but was very good last season with a 3.4 WAR and a ERA just a tick over 4. Omaha will assume the remainder of his $8.7 million salary owed this season.

Going in return is outfielder http://montybrewster.net/BBA/HTML/news/ ... 17341.html. Lopez is currently featured in rookie ball and someday may make a great utility player but is not seen as an everyday player.

Little risk for a decent reward for Omaha on this one, especially with Stoller down for the year. Georges should slot into the rotation.

Next, Omaha called up Montreal and successfully added to their bullpen which currently ranks 11th in the FL with a 4.38 ERA. Heading to Omaha to help that bullpen is former Omaha player Esteban Velasquez.

Velasquez spent the 2035 season in Omaha throwing 42 innings to the tune of a 2.79 ERA. He has a 3.63 ERA this season with Montreal and is expected to begin in the setup role immediately.

Omaha will assume the remaining $11.6 million salary that Velasquez has on his expiring contract.

Heading back to Montreal is IF Bill WilkinsBill Wilkins. Wilkins, still only 25 years old seems to have been around forever. He was acquired from Calgary for pitcher Kyle Elston back in 2035 but has struggled to do anything with his BBA time in Omaha, but more importantly has struggled to see at bats. He only has 135 at bats this season, which is 121 more than he finished all of last season with after spending last season in AAA Lincoln.

Wilkins should help Montreal and fit with the club right away, and is under team control for atleast 3 more seasons.
