The Omaha Hawks had signed nearly every pick in the draft except their first round pick, until yesterday. News broke that with the deadline looming, Omaha and their first round pick outfielder Lorenzo Bueno had reached an agreement.
Bueno, an 18 yearo ld right handed batter with tremendous speed, has considerable upside at the plate, and is expected to also be able to maintain his position in center field with an arm that ranks among the strongest.
Bueno has tremendous ability to get on base, has the makeup of a player who rarely strikes out, and when he makes contact should be able to put it into the gap for doubles and with his speed, triples consistently.
One of the things that impressed the front office of the Hawks the most was Bueno’s incredible work ethic. “You don’t see many 18 year olds with the drive that Lorenzo displayed for us and the desire to want it more than the person next to him” said the Hawks General Manager Justin Niles.
Lorenzo will now report to rookie league ball in Denison, Iowa and is expected to take over the center field position immediately.
Hawks finally reach agreement with first round pick (37.03)
