Hawks off to a surprising slow start at the plate.(37.2)

Post by niles08 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 7:29 am

The Hawks have consistently started every season slow in the win loss column. This season however they are holding their own early at 6-4. However, this is not because of anything happening at the plate.

The Hawks have scored only 32 runs through 10 games, good for 14th in the Frick. Their .207 team batting average, on-base percentage, on base + slugging, hits, and walks all rank 15th! What was supposed to be the most prolific offense this team has seen for years has fallen flat on its face to start the season.

Looking at individual stats it doesn’t get much better as nearly everyone is struggling. The starting catcher is batting only .200. He batted .266 last season.

The infield isn’t hitting well as James Monger (8/7/8/5/9 Talents, .216/.237/.568, 4 HR, 5 RBI) is only batting .216 on the year, Harlan Moore is at .176.

In the outfield, Jimmy Starks, Jr. (8/8/7/7/7 Talents, .098/.140/.122, 0 HR, 0 RBI) who some look at as an early MVP favorite is only batting .098 through 41 at bats and has struck out a team high 13 times in those at bats!
The team’s designated hitter Eliseu Satino (8/9/6/4/9 Talents, .077/.077/.077, 0 HR, 1 RBI), who hit .342 last season is only batting .077! Well belong his last season numbers of .342.

If there is any good news, with every single player batting below their standards, there should be only room for improvement on this team and early on they have held their own at 4.2 as mentioned.
