Hawk Nation upset as team raises ticket prices.(36.10)
Just hours before a press release got out, word leaked that the Omaha Hawks were raising ticket prices effective immediately. And, boy did they raise them.
The team’s current single game ticket price of $13.50, ranked 22nd in the BBA out of 30 teams. A low ticket price undoubtedly contributed to the team’s current ranking of 9th in league attendance.
However, as social media boards across the great state of Nebraska blew up, rumors of ticket prices ranging from a minor 50 cent increase to an unthinkable $30.00 a game increase were running wild.
When the official press release was put out, neither figure seemed to be correct as the team announced it would be raising ticket prices to $25.00 for a single game ticket. This new figure is an 82% increase in ticket prices, in the middle of the year none the less.
The new $25.00 ticket is a BBA high, $2.00 more expensive than the Seattle franchise.
“We put out a high quality team each and every game as indicated by our team performance over the past few seasons. In order to continue to put out this quality team that the great city of Omaha deserves, we did have to make a substantial increase in ticket prices. As many of our fans know, we have several young guys who are nearing contract extension time and to avoid the potential of them leaving us, we had to be ready financially.” Said GM Justin Niles in the press release.
This news also comes on the heels of Omaha making several trades over the past few days, where they have acquired over $16 million in owed salary this season.

This will be an interesting exercise, of course. My back of the napkin calculations suggests you need to draw about 30K fans to break even (you were drawing about 37K?)...with Hawaii in town, that will add a twist.

Yeah, I think that may be too big of an increase. My argument for the huge hikes for the not competing lower revenue teams was largely about not having to make huge hikes in the future to get to reasonable ticket prices, (however poorly I may have stated it). I'm guessing 18 or 19 though would have been fine. You've done the math more often that I Ron, but I though they'd need to pull around 34 k per game (assuming their pre season tickets were 13.50).

Stats plus shows 43,735 as average attendance meaning 43,735 X $13.50 is $590,422.
To break even at 590,422 per game, I will need to draw in 23,616 fans on average.
There's my napkin math...but who knows how accurate that is lol

The Goats are giving it a shot. No home games this next sim but the sim after that we have Vegas and Jax in town for 6 games. We're not going quite as crazy as Omaha did with their ticket prices but we did raise them $1. We have a 45k seat stadium and we haven't had even a single sell-out, and only 6 games where we brought in over 40k people, so we just cant afford to risk pissing too many fans off. We are willing to give it a shot though so let's see what happens.

Yeah, for the calculation, your attendance is probably better than 37K, but that's what you've drawn the last two games against Vancouver. So, pick a point...but you also have to take into account that you've sold some 24,000 seats as Season Tickets at $13.50 (I assume). So if you're drawing 37K, that's 13K who are subject to the new price...if you're drawing 43K, that's 19K who are paying the increase.
Using this estimation (which is never perfect for a few reasons)...
If you use 43K as your baseline then it looks to me like you need to draw 34K (counting season tickets) for it to break even. If you draw 38K (a 5K drop in attendance), you'll make an additional (roughly) $120K per game. If you don't drop attendance at all, you'll make a quarter million a game extra.
If you use 37K as your baseline, then it looks like you need to draw about 30K (again counting season tickets) to break even. If you draw 32K ( 5 K drop in attendance, you'll make an additional $50K per game. Again, with no attendance drop, you'll make an additional $175K per game.
You've got 22 more home games, so pick your model and multiply by 22 and you've got your extra revenue--which converts to next year's budget--for the change.

With your team playing so well this season, this may go well for you. Especially if Omaha finishes strongniles08 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 8:32 amJust hours before a press release got out, word leaked that the Omaha Hawks were raising ticket prices effective immediately.
