Starks-Morales forming a great 1-2 Punch.
The Omaha rebuild has been a long publicized story and with the team atop the Heartland Division, it is only right that we look towards maybe it’s two biggest stars, who are finalizing meshing and causing headaches for opposing pitching staffs.
The duo of James Monger (8/7/8/5/9 Ratings, .316/.368/.578, 17 HR, 53 RBI) & Emilio MoralesEmilio Morales, who some have begun referring to as M&M have been what Omaha fans have been patiently waiting for.
Morales was first signed to a minor league contract by Vancouver way back in 2036. The next off-season he was traded to Omaha(Indy at the time) along with Patrick Lue (6/8/8/6/6 Ratings, .222/.295/.508, 14 HR, 25 RBI) and a few others for Valeri Kharlamov (7/7/5/7/4 Ratings, .238/.304/.361, 7 HR, 32 RBI). Patrick Lue (6/8/8/6/6 Ratings, .222/.295/.508, 14 HR, 25 RBI) would go on to multiple stinks with the team and crazy enough, still finds himself suiting up for Omaha this year and starting at first base.
Morales would debut in 2021 for Indy, hitting 5 home runs in 29 games and playing good defense at 2nd base. Morales never looked back playing in at least 156 games every season since. He hit a career high 45 home runs in 2034 while batting .283 and it appeared that at age 24 a star had been born.
Nobody figured that star would club 64 home runs and drive in 147 home runs while batting .303 the next season, switching over to third base, and accumulating a 6.8 WAR.
This season he has started out a bit slower, only having hit 26 home runs and driven in 64 in 73 games putting him still on pace to eclipse 50 home runs this year and 130 RBI. His batting average seems to have taken a bit of a hit however as he is hitting .258 on the year.
Morales is 26 years old and will eclipse 5 years of service time by seasons end, so there is an assumption going around that Omaha is about to open it’s wallet and pay the slugger. He is currently making $11,593,750 in what was his second arbitration season.
But what is Peanut Butter without Jelly?
Morales broke out in 2035, and some point to that reasoning being another threat in the lineup. In 2035, James Monger (8/7/8/5/9 Ratings, .316/.368/.578, 17 HR, 53 RBI) entered his first full season in the BBA and surprised many with an astounding .309 batting average, 40 home runs and 116 runs batted in of his own. All of this while transitioning from shortstop to 2nd base during the middle of the year.
The 23 year old Monger is currently proving that last year was no fluke as he is currently batting .316 with 17 home runs and 53 runs batted in while handling 2nd baseman like a natural. His 4.0 WAR place him among the best in the entire BBA.
Nobody knows what the future holds as far as potential championship banners in Omaha, but the longer these two stay in the middle of a lineup, the better the chances for Hawk Nation.

We need Stu back in the Heartland. He's the guy with the hidden connections who could get away with putting out a contract on these M&M guys.
On the other hand, gotta love Lue's multiple stinks.
