Side note: Wow, what a month it has been. I have literally been working 10-12 hour days every day for the past 20 days so barely have had time to export and especially not had time to write unfortunately. I should be somewhat slowing down to only 12 hour days 5 days or so a week lol so hopefully I can write more. Surprised this is article 1 in 2036. Usually by opening day I have 15 or 20 already written.
All good things must come to an end. Or in this case, just "all things". It was announced this week that 27 year old Joe Clements (9/5/4 Ratings, 51 - 73, 4.98 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 790 K) would be released from his contract with the organization.
Clements was arguably the only piece of the Indy rebuild that any fans want to remember with his great attitude, wiliness to stay after and take pictures with fans, and contagious smile, he surely will be missed.
Clements was on the last year of a 4 year $17,720,000 contract signed in 2032 with the club. He spent much of last season in the minor leagues before being called up in September and pitching 9 innings giving up 3 runs and striking out 14.
He did pitch this spring for the club, but the lack of a roster spot meant he would have to begin the season in the minor leagues once again and that apparently did not jive well with one of Joe or the organization.
“We thought Joe pitched well this spring, but we simply did not have a spot open for him this season. We discussed him pitching for a bit in Lincoln but the decision was made to go our seperate ways. We with nothing but the absolute best for Joe and his family.” Said GM Justin Niles
