Starks lost for the year…again(35.41)

All was good in Omaha as they appeared to have figured out their shortstop miscues over the past few years by sending Jimmy Starks Jr.Jimmy Starks Jr in from center field to cover shortstop.

That experiment is over.

Jimmy Starks went down while turning 2nd base this past week and the diagnosis is not what anybody wanted for the youngster. Starks tore his ACL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season.

Starks was shining this season with a batting average near .350 on the year and had stolen 36 bases while hitting 9 long balls and beginning to settle in at shortstop over his 2nd full week of fielding the position.

This diagnosis means that Starks will fail to play in 80 games in 2 straight seasons having completed only 52 last season and 79 this year. He went down last Memorial Day with a broken elbow.

Still only 22 years old and with over 1,500 major league at-bats, Starks should only worry about getting healthy and coming back at full strength next season for the Hawks.
