It didn’t take long before Omaha manager William Cole announced that Raul Gonzalez would be taking over as the clubs closer effective immediately.

“He has tremendous stuff and the control that should allow him to get opposing players out consistently” said Cole, who is in his first full season as Cyclones Manager. Cole has a career 97-87 record since taking over in 2043, when he was given the keys to the Cyclones in his first ever managerial job at any level.

Omaha should be back to full strength next week when Jake Garcia is also expected to return from injury. Garcia has a 1.04 ERA through 34 innings of work this year for the club.

The team announced in a corresponding move that Leonardo Ramos would be optioned to AAA despite their being roster room for him at the BBA level currently.

“We appreciate Leonardo going out and shutting the door on several teams at the young age of 21. He has literally done anything we have asked of him. He started last year for us, he was phenomenal this year in AAA, and I have no doubt he will be back in the BBA with us at some point. Ramos is a guy we know we can count on.” Said Cole.

Ramos struggled in the stopper role, accumulating a 7.27 ERA over 7 games. He went 1-0 with 3 saves during that time. In his last 2 appearances, he shut down the reigning Landis champion Louisville Sluggers over 5 innings, allowing no runs, and earning the save in both outings.
