Emilio Morales, Omaha remain far apart in negotiations.(42.08)

For fans holding out hope that Omaha and Emilio Morales are going to announce a contract extension this week, they will have to just keep saying their bedtime prayers.

“The attention that this situation has gotten is blown out of proportion.” Said GM Justin Niles. “We are going to do our very best to keep Emilio in a Hawks uniform, however currently he is intent on testing out free agency. We obviously hope his mindset changes and he at the very least gives us an opportunity to make an offer.” Niles continued.

By the words of Niles, it appears that Omaha hasn't even been given the opportunity to approach Morales with a contract offer, rather than the two being far apart on compensation.

Morales is arguably the most decorated Hawks player of all time, and is certainly the most decorated since the club relocated to Omaha. It’s well known that Morales has written Omaha’s record books for most batting statistics (except doubles, where he is currently 4th all-time in club history). He had a stretch where he finished 2nd 4 years in a row for the Sawyer Silk(2035-2038), yet always beat out by a very small margin.

Morales hasn’t been paid pennies on the dollar, however, as some remember when he was the highest-paid player in the BBA a few years back during his 2038 season where his salary was $35,400,000. He is in the final season of his 6 year/ $140,000,000 deal. Over his career, Morales has amassed $162,937,500 through his age 32 season.

If he leaves Omaha, he can kiss the HR record goodbye!

$35 million salary! Good grief. Then again, the guy has over 500 homers by the age of 32! Where does he rank on the all-time list for homers?

Oh...and three times over 60 homers in a season!
