62.14 The First Base Factory

Bob Breum to Erik, "I think we should be known as the First Base Factory. It looks like three of our home grown first basemen will be playing in the BBA this season: Denes 'Shadow' Terovolas, Raúl 'Scooter' Gallehos, and Juan Hernández."
Erik, "You left out Dan 'Tangles' Wilkinson."
"Well, we inherited him when we arrived here, but we did develop him I suppose. So that's four. I wish we had all of them on our team."
Erik, "And where, exactly, do you think we could put them?"
"Well, Hernández was born to DH. Both Gallehos and Terovolas can play third, but scouts say Gallehos won’t embarrass himself in left field. So then Wilkinson plays first base. No problem!"
Erik, "Nice fantasy. It will be fun to watch them this season, though."
"BBN thinks that Terovolas is going to be an MVP candidate with 32 home runs, 121 RBIs and a .900 OPS. They project Wilkinson with 34 home runs, 111 RBIs and .950 OPS."
Erik, "They may be a bit optimistic, but I like the thought."
"Raúl is making the jump from Single-A. That’s ambitious, but it didn’t seem to bother him in week one. He hit .345/.367/.724 (185 OPS+) with three home runs and a pair of doubles.
"Last season in AAA, Juan hit .324/.393/.602. That’s great, but I would’ve kept him down a bit longer until his power developed more. I wish him luck, um, except when we play Cape Fear. I wish he wasn’t in our division."
Erik,"He wasn't supposed to be. That's why we traded him to Vancouver."
"Well, to be fair, nobody ever stays very long in Vancouver."
