Today was bittersweet in Montreal. They bade farewell to RF Roosevelt Davis, C Calvin Johnson, 2B Paul Mallett, DH Don Moore, RHP Ricardo Negrete, RHP Gerald Rogers, UT Candrakesa Surati, and RF Ziya Turkes, each of whom played a part in their pennant-winning season. For their service, each will receive a Johnson League Championship ring in addition to their playoff shares. Moore and Surati did not make the postseason roster but finished the season on the 40-man roster. The contracts of Johnson, Moore, Rogers, and Surati expired. Davis, Mallett, Negrete, and Turkes were non-tendered.

It is expected that 40-year-old Calvin Johson may retire after his 20 years in the BBA. He spent the last six with the Blazers, including playing an important role in their 2057 JL Championship season. It is anticipated that Loren Hall will take Johnson's place in Montreal.

As for the other positions, nothing is settled. Second base is the team's primary target this offseason. Right field and DH will likely be filled internally, with Manny Burgus and Denes Terovolas the most likely candidates.

It will be interesting to see how 2062 goes for you. Those were all useful pieces but not core figures. The only issue is the FA class isn't particularly conducive to a quick retool.

I think we'll miss Calvin's bat, but his defense was going downhill fast. I expect less production at catcher.

Gerald Rogers was our closer entering 2061, but he could not hold the job. He is not the same Rogers that dominated for us in 2059.

Mallett is a fine gloveman but couldn't hit and was a liability in the clubhouse. We had too many easy outs in the bottom of our lineup.

Turkes and Davis look really good on paper. Both hit well in spurts, but could not sustain it. Davis' defense was too poor to play the field and his hitting too poor to DH. We need to go a different direction at both positions. Either of them may benefit from a change of scenery and help another team.

I have no regrets parting ways with this group. I just hope that our plans at C, RF, and DH pan out. Second base is still up in the air.

I am lucky to have Silva, who genuinely seems to be an anchor at 2nd base. and yeah i think you can upgrade in those areas but it will be harder in FA than it might have been a few seasons ago.

Rogers seems to run very hot and cold. Shoeless would tell you it's because of his slider.
