62.03 Blazers Trade for Catcher Prospect

Montreal struck a deal with San Fernando today. Montreal will receive catcher Qaseem Kahil. The Blazers will send right-handed starting pitcher Manny Gómez to the Bears.

Qaseem Kahil
Kahil, 23, was signed out of Bahrain in 2055. The left-handed hitter projects with good power and a decent eye. Defensively, he is a strong blocker and a good pitch framer, although his arm is suspect. He hit .247/.318/ .442 in Single-A last season. Image
Manny Gómez
Gómez, 18, was signed out of Colombia by Boise in 2059. The Blazers acquired him in a cash deal in 2060. He projects as a swing man with three decent pitches, including a good splitter. His fastball sits around 91-93 mph. Scouts speak highly of his work ethic and intelligence.
