Only three weeks after arriving in trade from Vancouver, Montreal shortstop Reynaldo Serrano suffered a season-ending injury after pulling up lame on a first inning double in a home game against Rocky Mountain. He was diagnosed with a torn ACL and will need surgery.

The injury is a significant blow to the Blazers' playoff hopes. The team is severely lacking in BBA quality depth in their middle infield.

Serrano is known to be somewhat fragile, but Montreal had planned to address that with offseason strength and conditioning training. The club has had good luck in that regard in the past. Unfortunately, Serrano is not expected to be ready for normal activity until January at the earliest, eliminating that possibility.

It is unclear how Montreal will address his loss. The team has a number of 4-A type players on hand who can play middle infield, but all have flaws.

This still really sucks. A really talented player too but looks like he's not going to be able to stay healthy enough. Then again, others have beaten the odds.

Wouldn't shock me if you trade him if you can get the right deal, since I know how you (and honestly me, too) feel about often injured dudes.
