Originally selected in the first round of the 2050 amateur draft by Seattle, he pitched six seasons for them before signing with Montreal as a free agent before the 2059 season. Lúcio Juárez
Juárez credits the Blazers coaching staff for his recent success. “Since joining the Blazers, I feel so much more confident. The coaching staff here has really helped me understand what it means to pitch. In particular, [pitching coach] Emílio [Martínez] has worked closely with me since day one. He really understands how to pitch as a groundball specialist. I’d also like to thank Erik Breum, who had the confidence to sign me to a long-term deal when no one else would. I love playing here.”
Juárez is signed to a six-year deal at $2.5 million annually, with the last two years being team options.
Before joining the Blazers, Juárez was 44-52 with a 4.70 ERA (93 ERA+) and a 1.45 WHIP.
