For the second consecutive season, Montreal departed the postseason getting swept by their opponents. Last season it was by the champion Nashville Bluebirds; this season it was at the hands of their familiar division rival, Charm City. Like last season, the Blazers almost won game 1, then collapsed.

Montreal’s starting pitching performed well, albeit not as well as Charm City’s. Nelson Thompson and Kinzo Iwamoto both turned in quality starts, and Todd Schroeder threw 5.1 innings in game one, allowing only one run. But the offense could not deliver more than two runs per game, and the bullpen allowed 17 earned runs in 17 innings.

Bob Breum has already announced plans to upgrade in the outfield and at designated hitter during the offseason. Rumors of a trade for another frontline starting pitcher have been circulating for months. It should be an interesting offseason for Blazers fans.
