Gilberto Cordero
The Blazers will receive 37-year-old right-handed relief pitcher Gilberto Cordero, who has accumulated 129 saves during his long BBA career. Known for his intelligence, Cordero throws a cutter/curveball combo, with the curveball as his elite out pitch. This season, Cordero has thrown thirty innings with a 3.86 ERA for the Hustlers.
Bengt Zippro
Also included in the deal is 21-year-old infield prospect Bengt Zippro, originally from Aruba in the Dutch Antilles. Zippro’s plus power into the gaps combined with his game-changing speed should play well in Ubisoft Field, should he reach the BBA. For now, Zippro is expected to be assigned to Short Season A, where he is hitting .290/.371/.419 in the first eight games.
Javier Parra
Las Vegas welcomes 24-year-old right-handed starting pitcher Javier Parra, who was a first round selection in 2053. He is the 89th overall prospect in the BBA. Parra has three plus pitches, fastball/sinker/curveball, and sits around 100 mph. This season, he’s logged 13 starts with a 3.22 ERA at AAA New Jersey.
Aarnoud Budding
Las Vegas also receives 38-year-old 1B/DH Aarnoud Budding, who was a big part of Montreal’s pennant-winning campaign last season, with 29 home runs. This season has seen Budding struggle in the early going, hitting .234/290/458 so far. Montreal will be retaining a portion of Budding’s salary.
