Montreal's star first baseman, Lineu Aldo, has been out since mid-August with a high ankle sprain. Doctors had projected that he would be ready to return to action by now, but these kind of injuries are tricky to predict. Now the medical staff is saying only that his return is "unclear." With the end of the regular season only four days away, and the playoffs looming, it would be a big blow to the Blazers if Aldo is unavailable when the playoffs begin.
Lineu Aldo
Aldo was enjoying his best season in a decade, hitting .295 with 22 home runs, 29 doubles, 7 triples, and 34 stolen bases in 102 starts. His OPS+ was 141 at the time that he was injured, which would rank fourth in the league among first basemen. Even after missing six weeks, he is second in the Johnson League in stolen bases. He led the league last season.
