The Montreal Minute(48:6): Just Your Average June!

A 14-13 June is nothing to write home about but considering the Blazers' 4-1 record in one run game during the month I'd say it could have been a lot worse and it is still considerably better than the 10-17 May that put us in the hole we are currently in. Pitching overall has been a disappointment with a special emphasis on the rotation. No starting pitcher in June posted an ERA under 4.45 for the month and the only one under five was Jason Hurt who finished June 2-2 in five start. Everyone else failed horribly including Juan Ruiz who was an 18 game winner for Montreal just two seasons ago. The bullpen has been, for the most part, great this season but it has slipped a little as well. Rule Five pick up Anthony Annear(0.61 ERA, 14.2 IP in June) and Carlton Casson(0.00 ERA, 5 saves, 9 IP in June) have been achors all season but were upset and disappointed that neither made the Johnson League All-Star team.

Veteran catcher Joe Bradshaw did make the JL All-Star team as the lone Blazer representative. In June Bradshaw hit .333 with 16 RBI while posting a 1.6 WAR on the way to his third all star game in his eight BBA seasons. A couple of rookies also made some noise in June as OF Juan Rodriguez(.360/.402/.547, 19 RBI, 18 RS in June) and OF Raul Avila(.333/.483/.762, 7 RBI, 5 RS in 21 June AB) have broken into the active roster and look to be around for a long time.
