Has In-sung Yi pitched his last game as a Blazer? Many believe the team was set to let him walk into free agency following the 2047 season and hope he played well enough to garner a comp pick. Those plans have changed now that the 31 year old has blown his arm out in spring training and is set to miss the entire season. He could get another year of arbitration but that is unclear at this point. Yi has been solid for the Blazers since coming over in a trade with Omaha in the winter of '43 but his injury opens up a spot for someone else. Last season Yi's move to the bullpen meant that Casson would have to share the spotlight as it was closer by committee. With Yi gone Casson will have to step up and be the full time closer. His dominant spring shows he's ready for the job, again! The bullpen is young, hell the entire pitching staff is young with three players sharing the title of oldest at 26 years old. Casson is one of those guys but the other six bullpen arms average age is just under 23.
Lewis returns for his sophomore season following a great rookie campaign. He is the primary set up guy and the next in line for closer duties. O'Connor is the other set up guy. He showed great improvement last season over his rookie year posting close to a one WAR. Also returning is second year lefty Mullally who the teams expects to make similar improvements as O'Connor and really become a force in relief this season. The other two relief guys are both rookies who beat out several veterans in spring training. Albrecht is making the jump from Class A to the bigs and the Montreal coaches think he will settle in just fine. Pena is a rule five pick up from Sacramento who is great in the clubhouse and on the field. The Blazers have been know to hold on to their rule five guys regardless of big league struggles so Pena should be relaxed heading into the season. Should anyone struggle early there are a bunch of guys, veterans and rookies alike, waiting in the minors to take someone's place.

Hated to see Yi's injury. I watched him grow up out of kind of nowhere in the YS9 system, and it's been fun to see him build a nice little career.

Tough one for me as well...seems every season in spring training we get a year long injury to a pitcher
