..... Blazers End 10 Year Post Season Funk!! .....
.....
For the past 10 years Blazers' fans have been able to make vacation plans in early October. This year those plans will have to be canceled! A 4-1 defeat of the Brooklyn Robbins at Ubisoft Field last night gave the Blazers their 90th victory and secured a spot in the 2045 BBA post season. Montreal will most likely represent the Johnson League as a wild card participant although there is still a very slight chance at a division crown. The Blazers would have to win all four of their remaining games and division leading Rockville would have to lose all four of their remaining games just to force a tie for the division. The most likely scenario is Montreal getting home field advantage against the Robbins.

When the season began Montreal was touted as a team that would barely finish at .500 and against great odds they find themselves in the playoffs. "You have to make the playoffs before you can win the Landis!" said Montreal GM Herb DeSpain after the game. There were high fives and hugs around the Blazers' clubhouse but other than that the celebration was subdued. Veteran infielder Angel Zalapa explained why, "We thought we had a playoff team in spring training so this did not surprise us. We have more work to do before this season is over."

It was only fitting that stopper Carlton Casson retired the final Brooklyn batter. Casson has been the best player on the Blazers the past two seasons. The last time Montreal made the playoffs he was a teenage prospect better known for his bat than his arm. Casson retired the final six hitters he faced registering his 34th save of the season. Starter Juan Ruiz picked up his 10th win in Montreal since being traded earlier in the season. He now is 5-0 in September and has most likely earned himself a spot in the Blazers' post season rotation.

The Montreal Blazers made the post season a habit not too long ago. From 2027~2036 the team made the playoffs nine of ten years. They could never add that second Landis Trophy but they were considered one of the most consistent team's in the league at the time. That all ended in 2037 when the club began a streak of missing the playoffs. That steak has ended with the 2045 season.

Your pitching was a lot better than we thought it would be, but you've got a good team there.

Just the starters, outside of Casson the bullpen has been a disaster all year. I didn't help us any by carrying two rule 5 picks in the pen all year.

Well, it was a good series for you guys. Good luck the rest of the way.

Our one strength this season(starting pitching) let us down in this series. Our starters ERA in four games was 13.85(4.25 in the regular season).
