Mike Fowler has taken the long road to the majors. He was drafted as the ninth pick of the third round in the 2042 draft after hitting 30 homers and driving in over 100 runs in 570 high school plate appearances. He spent the end of 2042 and all of 2043 in Rookie ball where he opened some eyes knocking in 59 in just 194 plate appearances. The most impressive thing he did that year was draw more bases on balls than strike outs. In 2044, Fowler's age 20 season, he torched Short A pitching and was named the Hitter of the Year. In 70 games Fowler hit over .400, posted an OB% over .500 while scoring 84 runs. He also knocked in 72 while stealing 18 bases and slugging 48 extra base hits. At the start of the 2045 season Fowler didn't get an invite to spring training with the Blazers but he did get to skip A ball and go straight to AA. There he continued to impress at the plate earning 3.9 WAR in just 371 plate appearances. One thing that keeps improving at all levels is his ability to draw walks(65 in AA). Fowler earned a promotion to AAA earlier this season and although he is adjusting to a new level of pitching he is still drawing walks(14 in 104 PA) and hitting for power(nine XBH).

The Blazers have an overload of corner out fielders so it will be tough for Fowler to crack the major league squad any time soon. He'll likely begin 2046 in AAA but if he continues to hit like he has at all other levels then the Montreal front office will have no choice but to give this kid a shot. "He's got to take it from someone." said Montreal GM Herb DeSpain when asked about Fowler's chances of making the big club next year. "Everyone at this level is good so the kid is going to have to take someone's job from them." Fowler says that's ok, "I've been doing that since I've been drafted!"
