..... 2045 First Round Pick Replaces Garcia In Blazers' Rotation .....
.....
It's been a perfect storm of circumstances in Montreal leading up to SP Davey Penn's much anticipated debut in El Paso tomorrow. "We've had some poor performers and some unfortunate injuries that have led us to bring Davey up and see what he has to offer," said Montreal General Manager Herb DeSPain prior to the third game of a four game set against the Chilis. "He's pitched well in AAA so there is just no reason to wait." Penn will replace Dani Garcia in the rotation. Garcia, has struggled for the Blazers all season, will move to the bullpen but there is no doubt that he has been floated on the trade market in recent days. Montreal boast the third best starter ERA(3.97) in the Johnson League and that is including the 4.97 mark of Garcia. If Garcia does not get traded before the deadline then he is expected to remain in the bullpen unless Penn struggles in the rotation. Even then the organization is deep on pitching talent and could replace Penn with another young arm while keeping Garcia in a relief role.

Penn becomes the the fourth player and third starting pitcher from this years draft to break into the Brewster Baseball Association. The 22 year old finished his four year college career with the 3M Minors with a 15-7 record and an ERA of 2.40. He had a dominating junior season finishing 5-0 with a 0.53 ERA where he allowed just three earned runs in 51 plus innings pitched. Going straight to AAA New Jersey Penn picked up where he left off posting a 2.45 ERA in six starts. Penn will face an El Paso team that only has 33 wins in their first 84 games in 2045 but have taken four of six from the Blazers.
