42.15 - Blazers Weekly: Injury bug hits Blazers.....again

Post by drummerJ99 » Sun May 03, 2020 11:17 am

It's something that's kinda become a inside joke around the Blazers organization, "wonder who's gonna get injured this week, eh?" Some conspiracy theories are floating around the internet about where the construction company that built Ubisoft field was headquartered.

Mons Raider
No matter what the cause, the Blazers have lost some more this week due to injuries. Newly acquired Mons 'Goblin' Raider was injured being hit by a pitch. The Diagnosis: Fractured foot. He's expected to miss about 3 weeks. This is his first injury this season.

Another player that was also involved in that deal, C Éric Fabre was already expected to miss until late August. He has suffered setback in recovering from the injury, he will miss another 7 weeks, which pretty much eliminates any chance of Montreal fans seeing him in a Blazers uniform this season. They will probably have to wait till next season.

Another player involved in that deal was also injured this week (those conspiracy theories aren't sounded that far fetched now are they?) Starting pitcher prospect Vespasiano Tomi has Elbow inflammation and will be sidelined 6-7 weeks.

And if those 3 weren't bad enough, they lost starting catcher Ares 'The Steamboat' Papadias who will be out for 6-7 weeks with a fractured wrist.

On the bright side, the Blazers are getting back 1B Carlos Muñóz of the IR after his herniated disc.

To fill in for those injuries the Blazers have called up 20 year old C Reggie 'Big Reg' Leeper from AAA New Jersey. Leeper was the 2040 1st round draft pick, 4th overall and he is 16th overall top prospect for the Blazers. Reports are the Blazers didn't really want to bring up him this season, the original plan from the front office was to spend half the season in AA and the 2nd half in AAA, with the intention of bringing him to the big leagues next year. Things change though and Leeper is scheduled to make his debut Monday vs Las Vegas.
