42.14 - Blazers Weekly: Montreal/Edmonton swaps players

Post by drummerJ99 » Sun May 03, 2020 10:06 am

In a move to try and bolster their team for a march for the playoffs, the Blazers and the Edmonton Jackrabbits have agreed to a trade. The Blazers will receive: 1B Mons Raider, C Eric Fabre SP Vespiano Tomi (AAA) , P Raul Moreno (AA) & CF Jerry Bell (AAA) in exchange for C Rainer Scheffer, SP Vicente Lopez & prospect 2B Mahine Karetu.

Most of the talking heads of social media didn't look too kindly on the move for Montreal's part.

There was that one bright shining star that thought it was good on Montreal's part.

Blazers fan may have forgot that Lopez was even a Blazer having missed almost all of the 2041 and 2042 with season ending injuries. He played 5 games in 2041 and was injured this spring with another season ending injury. Team sources say GM Jeffrey Everroad had zero intention of offering him arbitration this upcoming off season.

As for Scheffer, Everroad said "He will be missed. And after having slept on it, I probably shouldn't have included him. But we are getting back Fabre who while currently on the DL is known to be a rock solid dependable player. This is his first injury in over a decade (last being 2031)." As for his thoughts on rest that they are getting back? Mons 'Goblin' Raider will take over day to day 1b duty with Carlos Muñóz expected to come off the IR next week. Muñóz has had a bit of a injury bug this season having spent time on it 3 different times so far. So hopefully Raider helps Munoz stay healthier. GM's thoughts on Raider? "His contract kinda sucks but we have the money and hopefully give Munoz some more days off will allow him to stay healthier and maybe mix him in more at DH."

And his thoughts on rest of the players involved? "Tomi is a starting pitching prospect, which every BBA team needs. Will he ever become a every 5th day starter in the BBA? Only time will tell. Moreno is a relief pitching prospect that's even farther way. Bell is a centerfielder with great defense and great speed. He's gotta work on hitting left handed pitching more but personally I hope to see being a every day CF in Montreal soon.
