The Montreal Blazers opened their new ballpark Tuesday in front of almost sold out crowd of 44,995 (seriously, 5 more people couldn't show up to the game?) Then again...maybe those 5 were smart.

Jackrabbits Trip Blazers in Extras - L3-2
The 2042 season did not get off to quite the start the Montreal Blazers had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Edmonton Jackrabbits at Ubisoft Field. The final score was 3-1. Starting Pitcher Chandler Hall was named player of the game for Edmonton. Vicente Ventura picked up the save, his 1st.

The Blazers jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd when catcher Rainer Scheffer belted a solo home run. It stayed 1-0 till the top of the 7th, when Drees Geestman hit Pedro Huerta. Huerta proceeded to steal 2nd and then proceeded to move to 3rd on a deep fly ball. Steven Collins proceeded to get him home on a RBI single.

The game was then at a stalemate until catcher Éric Fabre came to bat in the top of the 14th. Facing Montreal pitcher Matvey Voznov, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Edmonton on top, 3-1.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hall told the Edmonton Observer.

Troop Dazzles in Edmonton Win - L9-0
Unfortunately the 29,517 that showed up for the 2nd game of the season, probably wish they hadn't. Edmonton Jackrabbits starter Jubal Troop had all his pitches working at Ubisoft Field. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 9-0 Edmonton win over the Montreal Blazers. Edmonton is off to a hot start at 2-0.

Troop worked his mojo for Edmonton. The hard-throwing left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 8 innings of work.

"I got in a good groove," said Troop. "I was getting some swings and misses."

Blazers Win at Jacksonville, 5-3
Montreal rode a decent BBA debut outing from starter Lance Harrison to victory over the Jacksonville Hurricanes at Fidelity Financial Park. The final score was 5-3. The Blazers have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.

Kevin MacKeith, who finished 4th in the JL in RBI with 123 in 2039, helped out the Montreal cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"It's a mindset," said Harrison. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."

Blazers Shellac Hurricanes, 14-1
Montreal and Jacksonville met at Fidelity Financial Park in front of a lively crowd.

The Montreal Blazers clobbered the Jacksonville Hurricanes, 14-1, at Fidelity Financial Park today. Montreal second baseman Lineu Aldo was named player of the game for his productive day. He went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Montreal reliever Conrado Chinita was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Kelile Chimanga.

Kevin MacKeith put Montreal in front, 9-0, when he took Jonathan Frank downtown. His 3-run home run came with two out in the top of the fifth. It was his 1st home run of the season.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," MacKeith said. "We did a good job of that today."

The win takes Montreal to 2-2.

Dominant Performance by Moreno in Montreal Win - W11-3
The Montreal Blazers defeated the Jacksonville Hurricanes, 7-0, in Johnson League action at Fidelity Financial Park, with Montreal pitcher Jorge Moreno named player of the game. Arturo Trinidad picked up the save for Montreal, his 1st of the year. The win takes Montreal to 3-2.

Jacksonville had little success against Moreno and his cutter. Moreno tossed 103 pitches over 7.2 innings for the Blazers.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Moreno said.

I gotta keep those sponsors thinking they are helping produce a high quality product. Lol

Need to figure out some more sponsors located in Montreal to mix it up.
