Montreal trades legend 40.5

In a predictable move the Montreal Blazers moved on from Dusty Rhodes and sent him back to San Fernando where he thrived last season. When we brought Dusty in last offseason we was transparent with him during negotiations and told him if opportunity presented itself we would consider moving him at the deadline. But we also needed Dusty in Montreal and we was excited to bring him in. This fan base needed someone exciting they could come out and watch and Dusty delivered. Our young players needed a veteran to learn from and he was able to deliver on that as well. We are grateful for his contributions to this organization.

In return the Blazers received Pacio Nobre who was a scouting discovery in 2037. The Blazers farm system is a little top heavy and lacks overall depth. GM Spencer said this is a focus area going forward that we would like to address. Every team wants to get superstars and that's important but we believe successful organizations have depth at the AAA level that is ready to step in when someone gets hurt and can fill the void. Nobre ceiling appears to be career minor leaguer or might possibly grab the last roster spot with a BBA team. We do love his ability to play multiple positions and we value that in him and believe this helps him to find an opportunity in the BBA. The more chips you can get in this game the opportunity for future success increases.

Look for Montreal to continue to remain active at the deadline. I would say we focused on selling but we also have an ear open to buying. With the amount of financial flexibility quickly approaching Montreal they are in a unique situation. We are looking at the boards every day and if someone is selling and its someone that can fit our needs in 2041 we will reach out. I would not anticipate us moving any prospects to buy but if we can use our payroll flexibility as a tool to acquire talent then we will probably be interested.
