The Montreal Blazers have decided to retain manager Kayne Grandage for the 2039 season. Whispers circulated all season that the Blazers could be looking to go a different direction after another losing season. GM Spencer said internally this was an easy decision but we wanted to announce his return to set the record strait who our manager is going forward. Grandage has won over a 1,000 games in his career with a .559 winning percentage and has reached the playoffs 9 times.
To be honest this could have been considered one of Grandage best seasons ever GM Spencer said. I let a lot of talent leave Montreal through FA and trades and was certainty a season in transition. Its important to have a guy like him around to help us with this transition and provide a steady hand. We went 36-33 after the All Star break and this was simply amazing in comparison to our start of the season.
We certainly don't expect Grandage to stay around forever because at some point retirement is something we all want to achieve but he still has that fire in his belly. His contract runs through the 2041 season and it does appear like it could be his final contract. The Blazers do have a bench coach opening and this seems like an important hire. We would love to bring a guy in that can work with Grandage and learn from him GM Spencer said. We will be watching to see what coaches become available and also look at internal candidates to fill that position. The manager of the AAA River Rats Jesus Encarnacion and AA manager Juan Freitas are to be considered serious internally candidates according to sources.
Manager Grandage has also fired pitching coach Luis Escamille. Escamille only spent one season with the Blazers after being out of the league for 3 seasons. We need to be better manager Grandage said, last season was unacceptable from our staff if we want to win games. The search for a new pitching coach will start immediately and we need to make sure we get the right guy. Escamille had 1 season remaining on his contract. Grandage has been trying to strengthen the bench at the minor league level and bringing in talent across the coaching staff. We want the best talent in Montreal at all levels and its no different with the coaches we want to the best at all levels. On the surface it certainly appears it could be another tough season in Montreal in 2039 but Grandage appears ready and excited for the challenges ahead.

Makes sense, the guy usually makes the playoffs.

Hard to argue with a winner. Especially one who makes $1.5m and has three years left on his contract!
