May has truly been a roller coaster ride in Montreal in 2038. During the first couple weeks in May the club was struggling and spinning its wheels. GM Spencer made some controversial moves and decided to shake some things up. He shocked the BBA and UMEBA and put Manuel Pena on waivers and he was claimed in the UMEBA but due to a league decision he was returned to Montreal as the waiver was deemed invalid. After being furious that he was placed on waivers Pena demanded an trade and GM Spencer sent to him Omaha. That was not all then GM Spencer turned around and traded Louis Gonzalez to Huntsville for Vicente Chavez. After these moves, the Blazers have been playing motivated baseball and have gone 9-4 since the trades.

Manager Kayne Grandage likes this current team, I feel like we are starting to find out who wants to be part of this team and those guys are putting in the work and its showing on the field. The club received some life when they called up Kevin Mackeith who has hit .281 with 6 HR since being called up. We are asking a lot from a young player in Mackeith but he has really proved he belongs Grandage said. What I like most about Mackeith is he plays every phase of the game, besides helping us with his bat he has really played a solid RF for us and helped us defensively Grandage said. Juan Santana continues to make his case for his first all star game appearance and Benjamin Dale is on pace to hit 46 HR and he has provided much needed power in this lineup.

Even though May has shown positives signs the Blazers have really battled the injury bug. Starting CF Roberto Lopez strained his back and is out for a few weeks and recently promoted SS Juan Becerra tore his back muscle and will be out 4 months. Becerra was promoted to replaced the recently traded SS Gonzalez. Montreal will need to find a replacement SS to ride this out. At this point in the season every club is battling injuries GM Spencer said. I am hoping to start to acquire some depth to handle the injuries better and pitching needs to be a focus and we need to find ways to get better throwing the ball.

See? All you needed to do was threaten them with being shipped to the UMEBA, and voila! Instant turnaround!

MacKeith should be in contention for the Gillstrom Award!
