Wise Kraken 2012 Volume 7.0: Sim Report

Post by aaronweiner » Thu Oct 03, 2013 11:11 am

Tim Burton would consider the 2012 Carolina Kraken beautiful, special and ripe for a movie. The Kraken went 3-8 in the last sim to drop their record to a ghastly 43-93 on the season.

"Tick tock," said shortstop Jimmy Brennan. "Twenty-six more games. Tick tock."

Player of the Sim:

Todd Clay, who continued his hot hitting since joining the Kraken. Clay had a .465 OBP and a .980 OPS and has been everything that the Kraken hoped he'd be so far. Nice work, Todd, and stop winning us games!

Pitcher of the Sim:

Virgilio Merlin, who posted a 1-2 record and a 4.09 ERA this sim. Merlin has been awful this year, but sims like this give hope that he's turning it around. Nice work, Virgilio, and stop winning us games!

Other notes:

Carolina, who currently has the lowest payroll in the league, will after multiple moves start the offseason with a total team payroll of close to $37 million. That's because the options on Howard Feldmann and Julius Cook won't vest and the $12 million dollar option on .172 hitter Marvin Stupples will be declined. More on this later.

Jaiden France will not be back next year. Said France, "I'd rather pull my eyeballs out with a rusty lamp socket than try to lead this team to wins." Carolina wishes him well.
